Also the water walking potion is easy to farm a basic manual ocean farm can be made in less than 10 seconds for shark fins and you can easily get waterleaf from the desert without having to wait for rain or set up planters for them. considering the 1/40 chance of finding lava waders in each gold chest only in cavern area makes it sould like it'd be faster to get the potions especially since you can even get the from just breaking pots in hell. The only advantage to your method that comes to mind personally, is not having access to the lava waders.
I'm sure there are more advantages I'm not thinking of. The waders also aren't timed where you need an item to recharge them after a few minutes nor do you have to have a farm for ingredients and spend time harvesting and brewing potions.
Especially when it comes to spelunking and inventory management. Potion making isn't a problem, having to take them all the time for every little reason when you could void the need for some of them using a nice accessory instead, is simply preferred.
